Tribological behavior of aluminum alloy (Al6351-SiC) reinforced with silicon carbide fabricated by stir casting process was investigated. The wear and frictional properties of the metal matrix composites was studied by performing dry sliding wear test using a pin-on-disc wear tester. Experiments were conducted based on the plan of experiments generated through Taguchi’s technique. A L9 Orthogonal array was selected for analysis of the data. Investigation to find the influence of applied load, sliding speed and sliding distance on wear rate, as well as the coefficient of friction during wearing process was carried out using ANOVA and regression equation for each response were developed for both 7%, 14% & 21% Sic reinforced Al-6351MMCs. Objective of the model was chosen as ‘smaller the better’ characteristics to analyses the dry sliding wear resistance. Results show that sliding distance has the highest influence followed by load and sliding speed.

CNC milling has become one of the most competent, productive and flexible manufacturing methods, for complicated or sculptured surfaces. With the rising demands of modern engineering products, the control of surface texture together with the cutting forces encountered has become more important. In this paper, the effects of various process parameters of CNC Milling like Spindle Speed (N), table feed rate (FR), depth of cut (DOC), step over (SO) and coolant pressure (CP) have been investigated to reveal their impact on surface roughness and cutting forces of hot die steel (H-11) using one variable at a time approach(OFAT). The experimental studies were performed on SURYA VF30 CNC VS machine. The processing of the job has been done by solid carbide four flute end-mill tools under finishing conditions. Prediction of surface roughness is very difficult using mathematical equations. The surface roughness (SR) increases with increase of table feed rate (FR), depth of cut (DOC), step over(SO) and decreases with increase in spindle speed(N) and coolant pressure(CP) & the cutting forces (CF) decreases with increase in spindle speed (N) and increases with table feed rate (FR) , depth of cut (DOC) and step over(SO).

In India, at any point of time the power shortage exists and is even higher during peak hours. In the absence of demand management, the country has to import energy as well as this has raised issues of longterm energy security for the country. The aim of this work is to find out how much can be supplied from different energy sources and to look into the alternatives available for sustainable energy development without compromising the overall objectives of economic and social improvement. This model is subjected to various constraints like potential, demand, running cost and Hydrogen / Carbon ratio, isolated load, emission and previously installed capacities/minimum share in maximizing the renewable shares is set as an objective. Tora package has been used to solve this linear program. This model shows that maximum 29% of total requirement can be met by renewable energy. Coal, Gas, Hydro and Nuclear sources are supplying around 63 % of power requirement with reduced role of coal as compared to ever before. We can conclude that power can be produced at an overall efficiency of 36% while meeting a huge demand of 9, 45,000 GWh of electricity with considerable supply from renewable.

This paper deals with the experimental investigation of effects of geometrical parameters of friction stir welding of dissimilar Aluminium alloys and analysis of output responses such as tensile strength in the friction stir welding. Taguchi's Design of Experiment (DoE) is used to design the experimental array, based on which experiments were conducted. For four parameters and four levels of each parameter, L16 Orthogonal array is selected. To evaluate the output quality characteristics Taguchi's technique is used, based on which the optimum conditions are determined. An interaction effect of one input parameter over another parameter is studied to understand their influences on output performance characteristics. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is also performed to study the contribution of individual parameter on the output quality characteristics based on Signal-to-Noise ratio.

Rolling process is a key step in the production of flat steel products. Because of automation commonly implemented in flat product rolling mills, the products should meet the requirements of tight tolerances. one of the major defects observed in the rolling process is flatness and lack of attainment of the desired surface profile due to deflection of the rolls. The spatial shape and dimensions of the roll gap are influenced by the elastic deformation of all parts of the rolling stand equipment affected by the roll pressure. The current study aims to determine the variation of the deflection in rolls in a two high mill with varying percentage reduction of the sheet i.e, 20%, 25% and 30% on annealed and non-annealed IF steel sheet and analyzing possible solutions to reduce the elastic deflection of rolls with special emphasis on cambering and modelling of the same in Abaqus CAE.
